17th Schönbrunn Christmas Market
Romance of Christmas in an imperial setting
20 November to 26 December 2010
Every year visitors from all over the world are enchanted by the seasonal atmosphere of the Schönbrunn Christmas Market. The glittering lights of the Christmas tree in front of the baroque Schönbrunn Palace provide the ideal setting for the romantic Advent village with the enticement of delicious food, savoury aromas and Austrian craftsmanship. A delicate fragrance of gingerbread, punch and roast chestnuts wafts over the courtyard in front of the palace, offering a haven of Christmas repose from the hustle and bustle of the city.
A total of sixty-five exhibitors will be presenting Austrian handicrafts and other items from 20 November to 26 December 2010. Visitors can also enjoy culinary specialities, concerts and a children’s programme as they shop around in the friendly atmosphere of the market.
As the year comes to a close, the Christmas Market will for the first time be transformed into a New Year’s Market. On 27 December the booths will be redecorated and the market will open again from 28 December to 2 January 2011 with special New Year’s items to supplement the traditional handicrafts.
