By public transport

The most environmentally friendly, stress-free and comfortable way to get to Schönbrunn is by public transport – Wiener Linien.  

Parking and route

By car

For a fee, visitors arriving by car can park in the APCOA car park. From there it’s a short walk to the Christmas Market and Schönbrunn Palace. Charging stations for vehicles are also available.

  • APCOA car park at the Schönbrunn Visitor Centre (opposite Schönbrunn Palace)
  • Schlossallee Schönbrunn Garage (Schönbrunn Palace: 5 minutes)
  • For persons with special needs there are three parking spaces (disabled parking) in front of the Schönbrunn main gate.

Arrival and rules

By Bike/E-Scooter

A cycle path leads up to Schönbrunn main gate. Bicycles can be parked in front of the main gate.
Rented e-scooters are also very popular in Vienna. An all-year rental station is situated in front of the Palace.

Please note that dogs, bicycles and scooters are not allowed inside Schönbrunn park.

Buses can park 24/7 for a fee in the APCOA Schönbrunn coach park . From there it’s a short walk to Schönbrunn Palace, the Christmas Market and other sights.

On all weekends in December (Sat & Sun) and on 31.12. and 01.01.2024, a temporary bus parking lane will also be provided along Grünbergstraße (western edge of the road; from 30m after the radar device (ON4) to 20m before the ON 16 entrance and from the ON 16 entrance to the path to Schönbrunner Bad Bad), where buses can park from 08:00 -18:00.

On the weekends in Advent, an increased bus volume is to be expected. From the beginning of November we will therefore inform you here about the Advent bus concept of the Vienna Tourist Board and the Vienna Chamber of Commerce.

Is the Christmas Market wheelchair-accessible?

Yes, the Christmas Market is barrier-free. There are three parking spaces for people with special needs at the main gate (Schönbrunner Schloßstraße).

Assistance dogs are allowed.

Barrier-free toilets can be found in the Visitor Centre to the left of the main gate and in the entrance hall to the Palace.

Are dogs allowed at the Christmas Market?

No, you cannot bring your dog to the Schönbrunn Christmas and New Year’s Market because dogs are prohibited throughout Schönbrunn.

Are bicycles or scooters allowed at the Christmas Market?

No. You cannot bring your bicycle or scooter into the Christmas Market as they are prohibited throughout Schönbrunn.
