Teamwork makes Christmas wishes come ture!

Autor:in Sophie Scheffknecht

For many years, the Christmas market Schloss Schönbrunn has been keeping up a wonderful tradition: the Wishing Tree campaign for SOS-Kinderdorf.

In the centre of the market, there's a small Christmas tree. But instead of Christmas ornaments, it is decorated with little cards bearing Christmas wishes. They come from children who are growing up under challenging circumstances and now live in an SOS-Kinderdorf home, where they are being looked after by loving carers. But they cannot fulfil all the children's Christmas wishes on their own.

It's for that reason that we gave the visitors of the market the chance to pick one or multiple wishes from the tree and hand them in wrapped at the information desk, before 18 December.

On 20 December 2023, the time had finally come and more than an incredible 200 gifts along with a cheque for €20,000 were handed over to SOS-Kinderdorf.

We would like to thank all participants who helped fulfil the Christmas wishes of every single child!

But even for all those who have not (yet) been able to take part in the Wishing Tree campaign, there's still the opportunity to pick a donation package for activities like tutoring, sports courses or group excursions until 4 January 2024 and thus support the children for a longer period of time with a one-time donation.
